This Memorial Day Weekend, spend time exploring all the action-packed fun available near the New York Palace. From museum exhibits to special Memorial Day events, we recommend the following seasonal activities to welcome the start of summer.

From May 21st to the 27th, as per tradition, the US Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard will touch down in New York City for their annual Fleet Week. Visit the ships docked along Manhattan’s Pier 92 to enjoy the exhibits, performances and other events offered at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

Discover a magical world with the Metropolitan Museum of Arts at the Cloisters—a medieval castle with spectacular gardens—located in northern Manhattan. Bring the family along for an hour-long Family Workshop and explore the art and architecture of medieval Europe. As a branch of the Met Museum, the Cloister is free with museum admission.

Monday, May 26, 2014, experience NYC’s Annual Memorial Day Concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. This year, the Philharmonic’s free concert will feature Car Nielsen’s Helios Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 5. Starting at 6 pm, tickets will be available for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Last but surely not least, Monday, May 26, 2014, honor the heroes who have fought for our freedom at NYC’s Annual Memorial Day Parade. One of the oldest Memorial Day parades in the country, this celebration starts at 12pm on Broadway and Dyckman Street.
